A dream doesn’t become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work — Colin Powell
Dreams are the stuff of Life, without a strong, powerful dream to drive you, life becomes a mess of frustration and confusion.
Action is the stuff of achievement.
Actions neutralize frustration — it’s that simple.
It takes courage and determination to take decisive action.
Your Vision gives You Feedback
If you act on your vision of improving your life financially and in your lifestyle, then you avoid frustrations and develop a source of feedback.
Feedback will tell you everything about what’s right and what’s wrong.
Most people, probably about 95% of the population, don’t do anything to make their dreams happen.
The biggest obstacle to success is lack of courage, the fear of what might go wrong if you act.
The Problem with Your Ego
Your ego is always dancing around in the background of life, and sometimes it wants to take control. Ego will disrupt a pattern of action that puts you in a position where others might question why you are doing something. Your ego is a powerful driver that only seeks recognition. It wants to be soothed with compliments on intelligence and abilities.
If the ego is challenged, it will recoil into a corner and take you with it. From that point on it will make a fool of you by trying to look like a smart ass, it will show some sort of irrelevant behavior that displays intelligence. It doesn’t care about the future and stability in life, it cares about this moment and being accepted now. It needs confirmation that it exists.
Ego will avoid the original path of action that required your persistence and determination to finish a task, or accomplish a goal.
Strive for Clarity
No action can have a value without an outcome, the outcomes that you strive towards will always be defined by the clarity and power of your dream.
Writing a book, starting a business, any ambitious project starts as seed of a thought. It’s up to you to nurture the seed into a colorful and blooming flower that you meant it to be.
Create a Dream, and Act on Your Vision
In a previous article I wrote about how we create a dream of a better life, how we develop and recognize our vision of improvement and development in our lives.
That article looks at the deeper side of our thoughts, the mechanism of how we define if our dream and vision of improvement is real enough to be transformed into actions.
Take Action and use Your energy
This article is about action. Without a dream, there is nothing, without a dream that is actionable, there is no hope of change occurring that will be tangible and effective in our lives.
All dreams of wealth and success must be the result of a powerful idea, a dream that you have defined as valid and real. In short, the dream must have a logic in your life, and that logic must fit reasonably into the reality of our world.
Logic and Reason are Important
It’s the logic and reason of your dream that makes it immediately actionable. If something is missing from your ideas about how to create wealth or better your circumstances, then your actions will be ineffective. The feedback that you get from results will show you that something is missing.
Feedback challenges you to reconsider your position. A false position is often the result of allowing a biased opinion into the equation.
If a person sets out to write a book but discovers the first obstacle is that their way of writing, and forms of expression aren’t up to scratch, then that is good feedback.
For some it means they are not a writer, for others it means it’s a challenge to do the work and find out if they are a writer.
To Dream is Powerful, to plan is endless.
There is more power in the clarity of a mental vision of your future than in an academically planned idea of that future. The paper plan is always dead in the water, the dream in your mind is the stuff of your heart, it represents the real you all bundled up into desire and determination.
Making sure that your dream is coherent and properly connected to the world of reality is imperative to your success. Your success depends a lot on whether you can actually take action and make things happen. Getting the real feedback needed to understand more about your vision, helps you adjust, focus and move forwards.
Your Desire and Determination
Desire and determination is the powerhouse of persistence. The real power comes from within yourself, from your true desires and self-knowledge about what’s good for you in life.
Think like a Captain
If God provides the wind, then you must raise the sails on your ship. Only actions will reap results, and all the thinking and meandering thoughts that make you feel warm and cosy will not cause results.
If you intend on raising your sails to catch a favorable wind, then be prepared to act like the captain of your ship.
Self-knowledge takes you deeper into yourself.
It’s there, in the depths, that you will find what you want. One of the main reasons people fail to act, to realize a project that has been planned, is that they don’t really know what they want.
When a person discovers only that they don’t know what they really want, they will lack motivation and desire. Nothing will happen for them.
You Open Doors, they’re not Automatic openers
We live in a very colorful world, a place full of opportunity that opens doors to those who take steps to test opportunity.
Every door that you think about in life, will appear closed until you get up close and walk towards it by taking action. Your experience will give you the feedback necessary to move forwards. Doors open only when you turn the handle, not before. Action.
Always act, and find out what happens.
As you work, take action, and look for results, you learn something more about yourself. Knowing what makes you tick in life leads to more self empowerment. Not listening to your fragile ego will give you the habit of constantly moving on, moving forwards through your intelligent and determined actions.
Create a Map of the Way as You Move through the Terrain
The outcomes of your actions show you what the next step is. The next step is always something new, you couldn’t have known about it without taking action and finding out what’s up ahead.
Armed with your dream and vision of a much better future you begin to take actions based on self-knowledge and your desire to change.
When we act on impulse, we are bound to fail, when we act because of a burning desire that is driven by determination, we discover our capacity for persistence and resilience.
Persistence and Obstacles
Nothing can stop persistence. We have it in us, we must only set it into action with a combination of the right emotions in our makeup.
After initiating action the first thing encountered is normally an unexpected obstacle. This is perfectly normal. When you step out into the unknown obstacles lie ahead, you could only ever discover them by being courageous enough to take action and by being persistent.
Don’t allow ego to set you back at every obstacle. The obstacle will cause your ego to wake up, cry out and demand recognition. Ego doesn’t like looking foolish, at all. Learn to ignore the egoistic feelings of fleeting desires.
Feelings, Desires, and the Real You
Differentiate between what a feeling is, and an emotion. Feelings that come and go can be recognized as something caused by your environment, if you want to allow yourself to be pushed around in the wind, then follow them.
Emotions are deeper, they have the qualities of feelings, but they rise up inside us when we think about our goals. Emotions are part of our character, they drive us and keep us on course like a rudder in life.
Today’s emotions will be there tomorrow, and next year. They are the result of repetitious habits throughout the years.
The ego grabs at feelings and manipulates us by intensifying those feelings. Normally it can be something heard or seen that inspires ego to get in the way of our true selves.
Passing feelings will always weigh in and try to stop you from continuing working on your dream.
Beware of Advice Givers — they are everywhere
Some people intentionally seek out advice from people they know will advise them to stop, forget it, and to throw the towel in.
The world is full of smart asses who know better. They are full of the type of advice that justifies doing nothing, thinking more about the situation, they love to see a person take their unsage advice and come to a halt.
They are looking for an ego boost. They need listeners who are looking for an excuse to stop and wait.
These types of people are the better knowers. They have taken their own advice in life and stayed clear of every opportunity. They often point out that something is a scam for sure, that you’ll lose your shirt if you do this or that, and look at them, they haven’t lost a penny by being scammed because they’ve stayed clear of all that business and self-development stuff has to offer.
They are sad wind-bags who love the sound of their own voice and aren’t afraid to express their stock opinion on everything. Ego.
It’s easy to take bad advice that offers a rest from the battle.
Energy and Life
Determination is an act of will. It needs to be exercised often and kept moving through practice.
Persistence is the expression of energy, You have more energy than you realize. And you have no energy if you decide you have none.
A back ache, headache or lack of sleep is not lack of energy. Energy is the life force that we have. We have that much of it, and we should use it when we are fresh and ready to go, and use it when we are tired and confused.
It’s the energy of life that will pull you out of confusion when you encounter an obstacle, it will remind you that the obstacle is your first test of determination and persistence.
Energy is always at Hand
Energy begets energy. It is something that we just have, it is not the opposite of fatigue and lack of knowledge. Lack of knowledge creates a dissipated set of actions.
Lack of energy is when we are sick and need help from a doctor, tiredness and fatigue is when we need to bundle our resources and tap the energy that is always available to us.
Even when I’m tired, exhausted, I might feel like it’s all too much, but if I remind myself that I have meaningful work to do, I discover that my thoughts gather themselves and I focus on the main cause of my actions.
My goals, and my desire and determination are real things that come from an inner powerhouse where energy resides. It’s the life force, it isn’t something that comes alive when we stop, it comes into force when we move.
Your Continuous Energy
You have more energy than you realize. bags of it, all of the time. If you don’t believe me, then study people who seem to work constantly and still enjoy life. They are not overworking themselves, they are just living to capacity. They understand that they have bags of energy for their goals, and energy is constantly renewed through the determination to focus on, and realize their goals.
Many people believe they have little energy to do things. They complain about it. These people tend to spend a little time on many things. They are the ones who skim every article they read, yet they read a lot of articles.
They learn how to speed read a book or look up cliff-notes on novels, and miss out on the real sense of the novel. They have no time, but plenty of energy to dissipate on small, short lived activities.
They are always looking for a short cut, a hack.
They also have no time for themselves, so they make no plan that holds water, they follow other people’s strategies down to the finest point, believing that they are being smart and intelligent. The whole time they are living a life that is powered by an exhaustive ego based run on everything and nothing.
These are the types of people who often fall sick, avoid conflict, and challenges to spare themselves the energy output.
Energy and persistence go hand in hand. Try it, and find out, be energetic just because you want it to be so. You’ll find energy for everything that matters.
Avoid the Groans, Look for the Fire
It’s a matter of what fires you up, and what makes you groan. The groan is a block, a pointless activity that nobody’s interested in. We can feel tired when life only offers us one groan after another — and sometimes it seems that that’s all that’s on offer.
If we create our own ideas and follow them with faith, passion and energy, and test them each step of the way to ensure that our passion and determination fits in with the real world, then a successful outcome is the result.
